Job description

PL Developments, also known as PLD, is a leading manufacturer, packager, and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products and consumer healthcare goods.

SUMMARY: 

The Laboratory Technician plays a key role in ensuring product quality and compliance by conducting routine physical and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. This position requires careful adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards, along with precise documentation and reporting of test results. The technician operates, maintains, and calibrates lab equipment, troubleshoots issues, and works closely with production and quality teams to support continuous improvement and resolve any quality-related concerns. 

Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 10:00pm-6:30am 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in both writing and mathematics.
  • Effective verbal communication abilities.
  • Fluent in English (Spanish proficiency is a plus).
  • Associate degree in a science-related field required, Bachelor’s degree in a science field preferred. 
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in physical or chemical testing within a GMP laboratory setting.
  • Foundational knowledge and practical experience in analytical techniques, including sample preparation and the operation of analytical instruments (experience with Analytical Data Acquisition Systems is advantageous)
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills 
  • Flexibility to accommodate schedules to support operation requirements.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform laboratory analyses such as: titrations, pH, conductivity, etc. 
  • Perform physical testing such as: Appearance, Color, etc. 
  • Perform analytical equipment verification. (i.e pH meter, conductivity meter, etc.). 
  • Receive, process, and disposition of samples submitted to the laboratory. 
  • Perform routine Temperature Monitoring of temperature-controlled areas. 
  • Collect weekly samples for microbial testing as required by the Environmental monitoring program. 
  • Maintain Laboratory management updated on the status of analyses on the samples of raw materials, in-process, finished product, stability, investigational samples and any out of specification or questionable test results. 
  • Maintain an organized laboratory adhering to 5S principles by performing housekeeping duties as directed. 
  • Routine lab maintenance including glassware cleaning, supply, and chemical inventory management. 
  • Understand and comply with FDA cGMPs / cGLPs / GDPs / SOPs / Test Methods and other recognized standards such as USP. 
  • Understand and comply with SDS for hazardous chemicals. 
  • Assist in laboratory investigations as required. 
  • Accomplish daily work assignments / projects in a timely manner. 
  • Receive process and discard chemicals and supplies received in the laboratory. 
  • Shift flexibility and willingness to work additional hours if necessary. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. 
  • Required to uphold proper use of PPE within the manufacturing environment. 
  • Must be able to stand on feet several hours at a time

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting and overhead lifting.
  • Reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and climbing.
  • Proper use of a step stool or ladder for inspection purposes.
  • Comfortable working in environments with strong chemical odors and confined spaces.
