Job description

The Quality Control Chemist for AMVAC’s Axis manufacturing site supports product quality, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing operations by performing routine and semi-complex analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products. This role is responsible for executing approved analytical methods, maintaining accurate laboratory documentation, and supporting quality investigations. The QC Chemist works closely with technicians, specialists, and production personnel to ensure testing activities are completed accurately and in accordance with established quality system requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your education in a hands-on, real-time laboratory working with other professionals while you support the daily production efforts to provide quality products on a global basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform analytical testing using laboratory techniques such as GC, HPLC, GCMS, pH, density, titration, and other analytical methods
  • Prepare samples and reagents according to established laboratory procedures and sampling plans
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation and perform routine instrument calibrations
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure instruments are functioning properly
  • Record analytical results accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems while maintaining data integrity
  • Review results for completeness and accuracy
  • Notify supervisory or quality personnel of out-of-specification (OOS) results, unexpected analytical outcomes, or deviations from established test methods
  • Support quality investigations by providing analytical data and documentation
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment at all times
  • Work with production and manufacturing personnel to ensure sampling plans and testing requirements are met
  • Assist with training technicians or new laboratory staff when required
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to laboratory safety procedures
  • Works 12 hour rotating shifts


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic understanding of analytical chemistry techniques and laboratory instrumentation
  • Experience operating laboratory analytical instruments such as GC, HPLC, or similar instrumentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and complete procedures in a timely manner
  • Ability to follow laboratory procedures and quality system requirements
  • Familiarity with laboratory documentation practices and quality systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Microsoft Office skills including EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint, TEAMS, SharePoint
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with laboratory and production personnel
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or quality control laboratory environment preferred
  • Pass background check and pre-employment physical

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline
