Responsibilities
Laboratory Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for all aspects of daily operations of the NBP laboratories
  • Provide administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of laboratory duties for NBP
  • Provides leadership in the area of laboratory testing methodologies and provides direction to laboratory management (inside and outside labs) to help facilitate R & D of methods
  • Provide support as needed in new technologies and interventions in the food safety arena
  • Provides direction and oversight into the total NBP microbiological testing plan
  • Provide direction, oversight and communication to NBP management regarding all microbial data generated from internal to external labs
  • Maintain strong liaison with all levels of NBP management to facilitate the resolution of problems
  • Determine FSC fiscal requirements, prepare budgets, monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds
  • Maintain appropriate staffing and ensure the quality of personnel in lab
  • Ensure all company policies are followed and exercise discipline to lab personnel as required
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with the laboratory quality system
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a safety sensitive position. This is an on-site position.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates for the Laboratory Manager position should possess the following:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a microbiological or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a microbiological or related field
  • Advanced Computer literacy skills to include windows programs; specifically excel and access
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills- demonstrated with all levels of management, vendors, technicians, and auditors
  • Solid reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task with a solid attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and Interpersonal skills
  • High energy level with a strong sense of urgency
  • Excellent writing skills to include reviewing documents, reports, and developing SOP's (standard operating procedures)
