POC Testing Specialist (MLT/MT) Job Duties:

  • Works with Point of Care Testing manager and hospital staff performing Point of Care Testing to ensure policies and procedures for POCT are followed.
  • Conducts training and competency assessment to ensure hospital staff are familiar with the analytical procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting of the POCT equipment.  Assists with distribution of quality control materials,
  • Assist with correlation testing and performs quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.  Is familiar with CLIA, Joint Commission and CAP laboratory standards.  Assists with data collection for monitoring quality and assists with special projects as needed as directed by the POCT manger.

POC Testing Specialist (MLT/MT) Job Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Bachelor Medical Technology, Histotechnology or related science.  MLS or MT Required.
  • Preferably certified by ASCP, AMT, HEW
  • Possess a minimum of five years of experience in a clinical laboratory or similar setting. 
  • Must have a working knowledge of laboratory information systems and interfaces.  Must have knowledge of Joint Commission, CLIA and CAP
