This Phlebotomist role in a North Scottsdale medical office focuses on performing high-quality blood draws and specimen processing for patients, including those undergoing cancer treatment. You will collect and receive biological specimens, accurately enter data into the laboratory information system, prepare samples for analytical testing, and ensure specimens are routed to the appropriate testing areas. The position covers both pre- and post-analytical aspects of testing and may include specified analytical procedures, all while adhering to established codes of conduct and quality standards.

• Perform venipuncture and other blood collection procedures with a high degree of skill, including difficult draws and cancer patients.
• Collect and receive biological specimens into the department, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and handling.
• Accurately enter patient and specimen information into the company’s computer system and laboratory information system.
• Prepare samples for analytical testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and appropriate storage as required.
• Distribute specimens to the correct analytical areas in accordance with laboratory protocols and turnaround time expectations.
• Manage both pre-analytical and post-analytical aspects of testing, including specimen verification, documentation, and follow-up as needed.
• Perform specified analytical testing as assigned, following established procedures and quality control standards.
• Work closely with physicians and medical assistants in a doctor’s office setting to coordinate patient flow and specimen collection.
• Provide compassionate, professional patient care, explaining procedures and helping patients feel at ease during blood draws.
• Collaborate effectively as a team player with clinical and laboratory staff to support a smooth, efficient workflow.
• Follow all applicable codes of conduct, safety guidelines, and infection control procedures in the handling of specimens and interaction with patients.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure supplies and equipment are properly stocked and ready for use.

• At least 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience, including experience with difficult blood draws.
• Proven ability to perform accurate and efficient blood draws, demonstrating excellent venipuncture skills.
• Hands-on experience working with cancer patients or other patients requiring delicate, skilled phlebotomy.
• Experience in specimen processing, including receipt, labeling, preparation, and distribution of biological samples.
• Proficiency in using laboratory computer systems for data entry and specimen tracking.
• Strong patient care skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and provide reassurance during procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player in a clinical or laboratory environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to follow detailed laboratory protocols, safety procedures, and codes of conduct.

• Experience working in a doctor’s office or outpatient clinic environment.
• Familiarity with working closely alongside physicians and medical assistants in coordinating patient care.
• Comfort with handling a high volume of blood draws and specimen processing during an 8-hour shift.

This role is based in a North Scottsdale doctor’s office, where you will serve as the phlebotomist for the practice and draw blood from the physician’s patients while working closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift sometime between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. You will use standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment for blood collection and specimen processing in a professional clinical setting that emphasizes safety, accuracy, and patient comfort. The environment supports growth and internal advancement within a large healthcare and laboratory network, offering structured opportunities to move into more advanced phlebotomy roles. Professional clinical attire is expected, appropriate for direct patient interaction in a medical office.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottsdale, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.36/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
