Job description

Overview
Ready to shape the future of science and global health? A global nonprofit that provides trusted biological materials for science and health, ATCC is hiring a Senior Laboratory Technician responsible for preparing and conducting a wide variety of laboratory tasks, utilizing judgment in solving issues or making recommendations related to production. This onsite role in Manassas, VA, maintains inventory levels, supports media preparation, and contributes to production operations.
We are seeking Senior Lab Tech with chemistry or biology background and experience supporting media preparation or production environments. Join ATCC and be part of a team that supports the global scientific community with trusted, authenticated biological materials.
Responsibilities
  • Laboratory Operations: Perform a wide range of complex laboratory tasks focused on the preparation, formulation, labeling, and quality handling of media, buffers, and reagents used in biologics production.
  • Compliance & Troubleshooting: Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensure consistency in practice; troubleshoot problems which may require resolution deviating from standard practice.
  • Documentation: Make and ensure detailed and accurate observations are recorded. Document and audit recordkeeping logs, and write, review, and revise reports, summaries, and protocols to support accurate decision-making.
  • Quality Control & Equipment Maintenance: Conduct QC testing on media, maintain sterile conditions, and track equipment calibration schedules, ensuring all due dates and performance standards are met.
  • Inventory & Laboratory Support: Control laboratory supply levels by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt; support and report on work to assist in media preparation.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma and 5 or more years' experience or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on moderately difficult problems while exercising sound judgment within established guidelines.
  • Experience following SOPs and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in a laboratory, production or biomanufacturing environment.
  • Strong documentation and recordkeeping experience with attention to accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities to meet daily production and work order requirements, with effective communication across teams.
  • Preferred: Experience working in chemistry laboratories and aseptic environments.
  • Preferred: Scientific background in biochemistry, biology, bioprocessing, or bioproduction; experience supporting media preparation or production environments.

Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
