Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D)
**Job Summary:**
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery provides specialized, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN assesses patient conditions, monitors fetal and maternal well-being, assists with deliveries, administers medications, and collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality maternal and newborn care.
**Requirements:**
* Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
* Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or Compact RN License.
* Current BLS certification required.
* ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications preferred or required per facility policy.
* Recent Labor & Delivery, Women's Health, or Obstetrics nursing experience preferred.
**Responsibilities:**
* Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care to antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients.
* Monitor fetal heart rate patterns, uterine activity, and maternal status throughout labor and delivery.
* Assist physicians during vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
* Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
* Provide newborn care, stabilization, and patient/family education.
* Recognize and respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records.
* Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
* Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
