About the Role
Job Summary
The Labeling and Marking Technician creates, manages, and inspects product labels and markings to meet customer, regulatory, and industry standards. This role involves reading technical drawings, selecting marking methods, creating marking designs and location based on customer information, operating label printers and etching equipment, tracking serial numbers, and coordinating with production teams. The technician also provides guidance on maintaining labeling materials, supports the MES system, and identifies process improvements to ensure accuracy and efficiency in product identification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Read and understand technical drawings, Bills of Material (BOM), industrial standards such as IPC and Marking specifications (Medical or Military).
  • Create and manage labeling and marking of products.
  • Identify best marking method, and location on product or packaging.
  • Use label/marking design software such as Codesoft or label maker.
  • Work with different types of label printers (Brady, Zebra, and Bartender), as well as stencil cutter, and laser etcher.
  • Understand mix-ratios and inking method.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution system (MES).
  • Assign, track, and maintain serial numbers of products.
  • Inspect marking for correct assembly number, revision, date codes, serial numbers, and any other information called out by the customer.
  • Tracking marking materials such as labels and ink, and order when needed.
  • Work closely with planners and production to make sure correct products are in production at correct times.
  • Creates Label designs using latest software
  • Applies experience to select best label/marking placement
  • Use cutting tools to size, shape, and/or fit labels into best locations.
  • Identify process improvements for label printing and placements.
  • Lift and move products from one location to another.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic measuring skills, with the ability to convert between standard and metric.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs such as excel, and word.
  • Awareness of and ability to follow ESD and FOD standards for a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Awareness of and ability to follow ESD and FOD standards for a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic soldering and assembly skills.
  • Ability to use heavy equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical working conditions at Kitron are indoors, safe, well lit, temperature controlled, low exposure to noxious fumes or offensive odors, clean and sanitary conditions with average light industrial noise. Production areas have machinery with moving parts. Static dissipative smock, and shoes are required. Offices with locking doors, meeting rooms, and common printing areas are well lit, clean, low noise, and temperature controlled with no exposure to noxious fumes or offensive odors.
