ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Label Printer Technician analyzes label printer related problems reported by end-users, diagnoses the most effective method to resolve the problem and implements the solution; maintains a documented log of issues/fixes/performed maintenance, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots label printer equipment.
HOURLY PAY RANGE: $24 - $26/hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, poor print quality, and network-related problems encountered by end-users of the distribution center that involve label printers.
  • Calibrate labels and check printer configurations on a regular basis to ensure that all devices are configured for optimal performance.
  • Observes and maintains network connectivity and configuration of network settings on each label printer.
  • Grades printed test labels to ensure labels are printing at an optimal quality and document graded tests on a regular basis for each printer.
  • Configure grading validators on the label printers to ensure optimal quality printing of labels.
  • Uses established tracking/ticketing system to log requests; monitors progress, tracks problem resolution, identifies patterns of failure, research bug fixes and implements solutions; communicates with manager regarding unresolved problems.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of printer issues uncovered, preventative maintenance and repairs performed on each printer.
  • Works with vendors on problem resolutions, repairs or replacement of hardware under warranty or under maintenance contracts.
  • Works in conjunction with the Client Services Team members to perform all these duties.

MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO:

Identify, analyze and troubleshoot introductory to mid-level technical network-related problems effectively; listen and communicate information to a wide variety of clients at all levels of skill; deliver user support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner; support Skechers Distribution Centers objective by training others in use of label printers; lift heavy equipment; work in elevated workspaces; operate small to mid-sized heavy machinery; complete tasks with minimal supervision; have a flexible schedule for work (able to work nights evenings weekends etc.); learn and provide network support; learn and apply new technical knowledge quickly; communicate effectively with a diverse user base both verbally and in writing; work independently and as a member of a team; maintain cooperative work relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.

Experience:

Current experience providing technical label printer support in a large warehouse environment or two years’ experience. Demonstrate experience managing label printers and trouble-shooting and problem solving skills required, including knowledge of introductory networking theory, principles and practices. CompTIA A+ certification, other certifications such as Network+ etc., or combinations of other IT certifications or printer certifications are favorable. Minimal knowledge of TCP/IP would be helpful.
