Summary

A registered pharmacy technician is someone other than a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy intern that performs pharmacy tasks and duties as delegated by a licensed pharmacist that do not fall within the purview of Florida Statue 465.003(13). All such delegated acts will be performed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist who is responsible for all such acts performed by persons under his or her supervision as outlined in Florida Statue 465.014. These supervised tasks and duties include but are not limited to: initiating or receiving communications with patient, provider, and/or team members to facilitate patient care for: refill authorization requests, assisting in patient appointment review, medical records review, insurance authorization review, processing of prescriptions, including investigational medications utilized in clinical trials in compliance with policies and procedures set forth by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and/or medications associated with Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies (REMS). The Registered Pharmacy technician may also assist with compounding, preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical and investigational medications following USP standards and hospital policy, inventory stewardship, maintains records and creates reports required by law, and processing of documents required by the hospital.Incumbent must commit to traveling to various MAC (Moffitt Ambulatory Center) locations as needed to ensure quality patient care and staffing needs are met. Ideal Candidate will have Associate's Degree inPharmacy Management, Business, Medical Assisting, Communication, Health Information Technology, Accounting, Finance Must have graduated from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program orhave experience that qualifies them for licensure as outlined in Florida Statutes,Section 465.014. Be a Registered Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities(not a complete list) Medication Order Processing: Be able to transcribe medication orders into computerize medical record system ensuring all information is complete as required by protocol and policy. Be able to fully process prescriptions and new orders for checking by a pharmacist. Fulfilling Medication Orders: Fills medication orders in the proper order of priority, accurately counted, with neat and accurate labels affixed to the preparation. Proper procedures and documentation in inventory management systems are used during the fulfillment of the medication order. Non-sterile and sterile compounding of both non-hazardous and hazardous medications: Prepares parenteral dosage forms utilizing aseptic techniques in accordance with departmental policies, standards set forth in current USP, state & federal regulations and GCP guidelines for investigational medications. Delivery of Medications: Prepares and delivers medication ensuring proper storage location requirements are met based on the stability needs of the product. Quality Assurance: Performs routine quality assurance tasks, including checking extemporaneously manufactured medications, commercially available medications, I.V. solutions and equipment for expiration dates, recalls, or signs of deterioration. Inventory Management: Receives medication and supplies in accordance with inventory control and purchasing policies. Helps to maintain all medication inventory levels within the predetermined stocking level, calling attention to needs for revision, or perpetual supply problems. Incumbent must commit to traveling to various MAC (Moffitt Ambulatory Center) locations as needed to ensure quality patient care and staffing needs are met. Will be scheduled in multiple locations and maybe required on scheduled day to travel to another location Credentials & Qualifications A High School Diploma/GED - required Must have graduated from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program orhave experience that qualifies them for licensure as outlined in Florida StatutesSection 465.014. Be a Registered Pharmacy Technician 2 years as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with a minimum of 2 years' experience of each ofthe following (1 year if Moffitt team member): Unit dose, Pharmacy orders and inventory computer systems, and/or Investigational or REMS medication management and pharmacy automation software systems, equipment and electronic health records (EHR) and preparation of sterile intravenous medications, which may include hazardous and/orinvestigational medications used for the treatment of cancer with competent understanding of current USP clean room practices and GCP guidelines and/or inventory management of investigational/controlled/specialty medications

Salary Range

$27.25 - $27.25

Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
