This position pays $23.00 per hour Sunday though Wednesday

Position overview:

The QA Lab Technician I is responsible for performing test procedures of the finished product and reporting the findings of these tests.

What you will be doing:

  • Identifies off-spec production in the lab analysis spreadsheet and in the Access inventory database.
  • Maintains records of the disposition of non-confirming product; Maintain and calibrate test equipment and ensure that appropriate test equipment is certified per various requirement
  • Inventory critical lab supplies weekly and note levels on the appropriate form; Has an understanding of the ISO9001 system and operate to these standards as they apply
  • Computer savvy with ability to perform basic functions - entering data, email, spreadsheet operations, file manipulation, etc…
  • The QA Lab Technician I is responsible for performing test procedures of the finished product and reporting the findings of these tests. Interpolate Access database every day after previous day's quality data has been entered; Understand Product Specifications and BOSS;
  • Assure that retain samples are properly prepared and stored; Perform sieve analysis using a Rotap; Accurately enter lab test data into the Access database and on to the lab analysis Excel spreadsheet
  • Operates all processes in a safe manner and within HSE rules and regulations; Preforming a variety of established test procedures to measure physical characteristics of finished product. These tests may include: strength; Conduct testing of raw materials as required; Conduct testing of critical in process quality parameters. These tests include, but not limited to, baghouse density, particle size and volume loss.
  • Chemical feed analysis and dissolved borax/boric acid concentration; Prepares and distributes certificates of analysis (COA's) for all customer shipments; Position Title Location Reports To (Title) Work Schedule Cost Center Department Company Code FLSA Status Workers Comp Code Job Function Analyzing production samples and raw material samples for physical and chemical characteristics
  • Aid in investigating customer complaints and customer returns to identify root causes and necessary corrective actions; Reviews and approves material certifications as necessary
  • Performs special projects or other duties as directed. Come to work Fit for Duty and be focused on working safely; Understand and support Potters Essentials Behavioral and Operational Principals
  • Practice good housekeeping and assist with other housekeeping tasks as directed; Maintains good housekeeping in the QA lab
  • Demonstrates commitment to HSE Essentials in everyday activities; Participates in HSE improvement activities (Toolbox meetings, Behavioral Based Safety (BBS), hazard ID’s, near misses, safety work orders, job safety analysis (JSA), Is It Safe Tour and computer-based safety training)
  • Communicates, promotes and personally demonstrates Safety/Health (including the HSE Essentials) as the #1 priority


Minimum Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma/GED Associates Degree in Science is a plus or Equivalent Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of Quality Assurance Lab Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
  • 1 to 3 years forklift operations and/or certification preferred
  • Ability to use computer - basic computer skills Experience in plant safety systems such as Confined Space entry, Hot Work permitting and Lockout/Tagout of industrial equipment.
  • Basic skills in areas of industrial mechanical equipment troubleshooting and repairs, pipe fitting, minor metal fabrication (including welding), and proper use of mechanical tools. Works well with others –
  • Good Team Work skills Strong Work Ethic Detail and Organizational Skills Manufacturing Plant environment;
  • Follow plant safety rules and wear required PPE: Report all injuries, illnesses, or incidents immediately or as soon as it’s safe to do so; Forklift certification preferred
