Description:
Collects blood specimens and performs laboratory testing.
Receives, handles, and processes specimens for laboratory testing.
Sorts and accesses specimens, assigning them to appropriate workflows.
Completes computerized tasks related to patient registration and test order entry.
Performs basic post-analytic tasks, including report distribution.
Maintains a clean, stocked, and safe work area.
Monitors pending work and escalates priority tasks when necessary.
Operates and uses basic pre-analytic lab equipment.
Adheres to regulations, codes, policies, and procedures for patient care.
Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
Assesses specimen acceptability and follows protocols to maintain integrity.
Prepares and packages specimens for transport.
Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies in the work area.
Completes documentation of pre-analytic and post-analytic work.
Participates in managing laboratory workflow.
Communicates released results and routes them appropriately.
Stores and retrieves specimens as needed.
Receives incoming calls and assists or transfers them as appropriate.
Clarifies ambiguous or unclear test orders with customers.
