Job description

Specialist, Lab Training

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds. We are seeking a talented and motivated Specialist, Lab Training to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the training structure and information is available for their responsible groups. Ensures effective training approaches and solutions based upon needs analysis. Coordinates the support area's technical training programs and training schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance and punctuality.
  • Coordinates technical training for support areas. Occasionally delivers technical training, site training initiatives, and procedure training for support area, supporting a multi-shift / location operation.
  • May receive training from L&D department to deliver to support area.
  • Designs training and seeks guidance of direct and/or matrix manager when needed.
  • Connect with SMEs/management to identify training needs and identify the most appropriate method of training.
  • Works with Support area and SMEs to develop Technical Learning Materials.
  • Accountable for the maintenance and review of Technical Learning Materials.
  • Identifies procedure changes and impact on department and Learning Materials.
  • Conducts training needs assessments within positions support area.
  • Assess training program for gaps (modules, proper framework) to deliver an effective training program.
  • Conducts training needs analysis of departmental processes with the guidance from direct and matrix manager.
  • Performs "walk-throughs" of support area to assess training needs via direct observation of work activities.
  • Meets with support areas to evaluate training needs.
  • Works with subject matter experts to incorporate expertise into training.
  • Active participation and interaction in PC Board Meetings.
  • Partners with outside vendors to evaluate and coordinate external training.
  • Coordinates, executes and updates department orientation, supporting a multi-shift / location operation.
  • Conducting training sessions one-on-one or as a group.
  • Collaborates with management to deliver departmental orientation.
  • Performs administrative functions associated with support area training such as scheduling, resource preparation, LMS activities, tracking, reporting, and documentation.
  • Schedules training.
  • Ensures training items are captured in LMS.
  • Ensures completion of proper documentation of training events within responsible area.
  • Provides training status reports to responsible area.
  • Maintains technical training procedures.
  • Participates as a member of Center of Excellence (COE) teams associated with the position.
  • Participates in L&D COE meetings and follows-up on appropriate action items.
  • Share best practices and bring back to responsible area.
Qualifications:

We value the skills and experiences candidates bring to the table. While we have listed some qualifications below, we encourage candidates to apply even if they do not meet all of them:

  • B.S. /B.A. in Education or Business discipline; in lieu of this requirement, a degree in a discipline related to the position's support area (i.e., a Logistics degree for a Warehouse support area or a Science degree for the Laboratory support area) may be considered; or in lieu of formal education, 8 years of business-related experience involving a technical training focus may be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of operational experience in a support area within the company (Manufacturing, Packaging, Warehousing, or Laboratories) or in a like-function outside of the company.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a matrix organization.
