Job description

The Lab Technician "A" is responsible for performing all analytical testing required for the disposition of finished product manufactured or packaged for the Chicago Heights or Waterway plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analytical testing of in-process and special samples as required by the laboratory
  • Develop proficiency in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment including top loading balances, analytical balances, pH meters, Ro-Tap particle size analyzers, Alpine jet sieves, auto titrators, atomic absorption spectrophotometers, laser particle size analyzers, UV spectrophotometers, ion chromatographs and rate machines
  • Perform daily calibration and reference checks, record analytical data in logbooks, LIMS and maintain laboratory records using Microsoft Access and Statistical Software
  • Create, print & distribute Certificate of Analysis (CoAs) for bulk shipments via email or other approved communication methods
  • Assist production personnel as needed, keep the work area clean and organized, trains other employees as assigned
  • Perform other duties as required
Shift
  • 1st shift (7:00 am - 3:00 pm)
  • Eligible for overtime pay on hours worked that exceed 8/day and 40/week.
  • Bi-weekly paid on Friday's

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or another scientific discipline
  • 1-3 years of quality control lab experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of analytical chemistry principles, laboratory techniques, and good laboratory practices (GLP/GMP)
  • Ability to read, understand, and accurately perform analytical test methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts and analytical calculations
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office applications, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), databases, and statistical software
  • Ability to operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation
Environmental and/or Physical Requirements
  • Frequent Standing
  • Seldom lifting up to 50 lbs., squatting, bending, and operating mobile equipment (Cushman)
  • Rarely climbing, and working in temperature changes
  • Never operates heavy equipment
$28.83 - $28.83 an hour
Wages start at $28.83/hour in accord with the labor contract.
