Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Point of Care Testing Specialist, you will provide immediate assistance and administrative support to patients, ensuring smooth entry into healthcare services.

Daily, you will greet and assist patients with coverage questions and office protocols, verify and update demographics and insurance, register new patients, and accurately handle receivables and daily deposits.

Success in this role requires exceptional customer service, meticulous data and financial accuracy, strong insurance knowledge, and proficiency with scheduling systems.

Under the supervision of the Director Nursing - Ambulatory Clinical Operations and in consultation with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) lab regulatory resources, this job is responsible for the regulatory oversight and monitoring of all CLIA-waived point of care testing (both laboratory and medical testing equipment) in the ambulatory setting. An incumbent will coordinate designated POC testing and licensure, develop training and competency programs, provide ongoing technical guidance and feedback covering the pre-analytical, analytical, and post analytical areas of laboratory medicine and perform similar functions for medical testing equipment.

Work requires the ability to learn/implement/maintain data management systems and connectivity/interfacing technologies and involves traveling to multiple testing sites within ambulatory settings. Also requires the ability to effectively communicate with and train staff including physicians, nurses, and medical assistants.
