Overview:
The LIS Administrative Assistant is responsible for the maintenance of laboratory information systems and
procedures, in support of the LIS Administrator. The LIS Administrative Assistant is familiar with all aspects
of Orchard LIS and associated interfaces. The LIS Administrative Assistant is also familiar with general IT
functions including, but not limited to, printers, monitors, and VOIP phone systems.

Outcome-Based Responsibilities (Deliverables):

Scope:

  • Promotes quality relations and creates a supportive climate by serving as a role model. Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to the laboratory. Adheres to and enforces prescribed laboratory safety policies and regulations.
  • Works independently with minimal direction. Functions as a liaison between the laboratory and the laboratory customers.
  • Operates general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computer keyboards and CRT. Effectively communicates via written, verbal, face-to-face, telephone, and computer methods.

Education and Experience:

  • 1+ years of lab experience
  • 1+ years of IT experience
  • Experience with Orchard LIS, NextGen EMR, and/or Athena EMR preferred

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both end users and system developers
  • Knowledge of LIS software, including, Orchard, Machine integration, and associated software
  • Knowledge of HL7, Data/SQL analysis, and Orchard products
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Personal organization and planning skills
