Our Hammond, Wisconsin factory is looking for a Lab Technician, if you're new to the manufacturing industry, we offer onsite, hands-on training and all team members are eligible for multiple opportunities for growth, learning and development.

A Lab Technician works with production to ensure a quality product is produced to the customer standards by performing quality checks and following established safety and production procedure. This position will mainly work Monday - Thursday 5 am to 5 pm

Base Pay Rate: $19.50 hourly

Job Duties:

  • Cut, identify, and prepare samples of retains from production for testing, document results. Testing includes:
    • Coat Weights
    • Subsequent Adhesions
    • Release, including various wet casts and tape test
    • Extractables
    • Moisture
    • Lay flat testing
    • Physical property testing including but not limited to; basis weight, caliper, tensile, tear, gloss, and Polybond.
  • Inspect samples for defects and ensure that material conforms to requirements; inform appropriate personnel when defects are found.
  • Perform data entry into various computer databases (including internal rejects, reworks, PRISM< QDMS< shop floor, and excel spreadsheets) as required by quality assurance procedures.
  • Put retain samples into cores for customers.
  • Store internal samples into cores for customers
  • File 8 1/2x 11 samples from production, document samples into spreadsheet provided.
  • Purge files when needed.
  • Assist quality and production in tagging or removing labels from nonconforming material (red, orange, blue)
  • Assist in orientation and training or any new lab tech assigned to the shift.
  • At the end of each shift make sure quality lab is clean and organized.
  • Perform other associated duties, as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years plant experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures
  • Basic math skill, and computer skills (primarily data entry)
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including ability to read and interpret test procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Detail oriented
