Responsible for performing all routine and special procedures for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, following established standards and practices. The scope of patient care ranges from neonatal to geriatric patients. Lab personnel must demonstrate competence in all areas. Works under the supervisor of Department Supervisor, Assistant Lab Manager and the Administrative Lab Director. Responsible for the analytical evaluation of blood and other body fluids. All test must be performed with accuracy and precision


Functions of Position (not an exhaustive list):

  • Receive blood specimens sent to laboratory or draw blood from patient by venipuncture observing strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis to prevent infection of patients and contamination of specimens
  • Performs, evaluates and trouble shoots quality control and proficiency testing procedures. Performs instrument maintenance calibration and troubleshooting procedures
  • Maintain adequate levels of reagent/supplies to perform testing
  • Assist in the calling, filing, and delivery of laboratory report copies
  • Perform all routine and special procedures as listed in detail in the laboratory
  • Perform the necessary maintenance, inventory, and quality control procedures in order to report accurate patient results

Medical Technologist

  • Registration by the Board of Registry of Medical Technologists, American Society of Clinical Technologists or equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree required

Medical Laboratory Technologist

  • Registration by the Board of Registry of Medical Technologists, America Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalant
  • Associate's Degree required
