Job description

Overview Suncoast Post Tension, Ltd., a Keller company, is an established post-tension and rebar manufacturing company that has been in business for over 30 years. We supply construction related materials to builders from one of our eight facilities in the US. We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in SolidWorks, 3D modeling, and full-cycle product development to join our Research & Development team.

This role is responsible for taking concepts from initial idea through detailed design, prototyping, and support of manufacturing equipment development. The ideal candidate thrives in an innovative environment and is passionate about designing and improving mechanical systems. Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks and other CAD tools Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings for manufacturing Work with team members to drive projects from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and implementation Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, electrical engineering, and operations Develop and refine concepts for new manufacturing equipment and process improvements Perform engineering analysis, simulations, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure design integrity Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, proof of function and validation activities in a fabrication shop environment.

Work closely with vendors and suppliers on fabrication and material selection Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards Document design processes, changes, and technical specifications Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Required Background 3+ years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or R&D environment Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings) Experience with concept-to-design development of mechanical systems or equipment Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, etc.) Experience with prototyping and product testing Preferred Qualifications Experience designing custom manufacturing equipment or automation systems Familiarity with FEA, GD&T, and tolerance analysis Hands-on experience in a lab or prototype shop environment Knowledge of materials, pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion control systems Knowledge Skills & Abilities Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork skills Familiarity with Six Sigma design methodologies, DFSS, DOE, Taguchi Methods and TRIZ.
