Job description

Lab Technician

Summary

Responsible for performing routine analysis of samples to determine chemical and physical properties while supporting daily lab operations, incoming waste processing, and compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role that works closely with operations to safely receive, test, and process incoming waste streams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate pH meters, scales, and perform bump tests prior to receiving truck loads 
  • Perform routine sample analysis using basic instrumentation in accordance with SOPs 
  • Collect and analyze samples from incoming trucks, including “Great 8” testing 
  • Verify samples match profile specifications and escalate discrepancies as needed 
  • Review and process incoming paperwork (manifests, profiles, work orders, and shipping documents) 
  • Enter and track load data, manifests, and lab results within internal systems 
  • Scale trucks in and out and maintain accurate daily record logs 
  • Direct drivers for sampling and offloading in accordance with site procedures 
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner 
  • Maintain QA/QC standards and ensure compliance with all testing requirements 
  • Follow all OSHA, Health & Safety, and compliance protocols 
  • Maintain proper waste handling and disposal generated from lab analysis 
  • Perform general lab upkeep including cleaning equipment, labeling containers, and disposing of samples 
  • Maintain organization of lab supplies and ensure proper housekeeping standards 
  • Assist weigh-master, sampler, and receiver functions as needed to support operations 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of laboratory or related experience preferred  
  • Basic understanding of chemistry, sample analysis, and lab safety procedures 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 
  • Basic computer skills and experience with data entry systems
