Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Lab & Operations Manager to oversee laboratory operations, facilities management, inventory control, procurement, and EHS compliancefor our growing molecular diagnostics R&D center in Lexington, MA. This role is critical to ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive environment for our dynamic scientific teams.

  • Manage daily operations of theBSL-2 molecular biology laboratory, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, EHS, biosafety regulations, and local permitting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of safety through training personnel in safe equipment operation, emergency response procedures, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Oversee end-to-end warehouse operationsfor R&D reagents, consumables and materials and coordinate with procurement, logistics (cold-chain management), and finance teams to align purchasing, inbound/outbound logistics, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Act as point-of-contact for outside agencies; interface with and coordinate as needed with landlord and service vendors for maintenance, repairs, and installations of equipment or facilities.
  • Oversee inventory management,ensuring the availability of essential lab supplies, reagents, and equipment through procurement and installation.
  • Provide on-site purchasing, receiving, and procurement support
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or a related life science field.
  • At least2 years of formal lab management or operations experience.
  • Proven hands-on experience withBSL-2 lab management, EHS compliance, chemical hygiene, and biosafety protocols.
  • Direct experience with lab procurement, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and facility operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in IVD raw material R&D or molecular diagnostic product development (qPCR, NGS, protein engineering, etc.).
  • Prior experience managing warehouse or inventory operations in the biotech/life science industry.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., MaintainX) and eProcurement platforms.
