Senior Manager, Lab Operations Support


Location: Marlborough, MA (Primary) with oversight of Hayward, CA


About the Opportunity


Meadowhawk Biolabs is a rapidly growing contract research organization (CRO) with operations in the greater

Boston and San Francisco Bay Area. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager, Lab

Operations Support (LOS) to join our Operations team and play a critical role in supporting our laboratory

environment.


This position is responsible for ensuring that our laboratories operate efficiently, safely, and without disruption -

enabling our scientific teams to focus on delivering high-quality research. This is a hands-on leadership role that

combines team management, operational execution, and process improvement in a fast-paced, collaborative

environment.


Key Roles and Responsibilities


Lab Operations Leadership


  • Lead and manage Lab Operations Support staff in Marlborough, MA
  • Provide functional oversight and coordination for Hayward, CA LOS personnel
  • Establish priorities, workflows, and service expectations aligned with scientific teams
  • Develop team capabilities and drive continuous improvement
  • Foster a strong service-oriented culture focused on enabling laboratory productivity



Materials Management, Shipping & Logistics


  • Oversee receiving, tracking, and distribution of samples, compounds, and supplies
  • Oversee the return and/or disposition of samples and compounds Ensure proper storage, organization, and handling of laboratory materials
  • Manage domestic shipping operations (UPS, FedEx, courier) and ensure compliance
  • Coordinate shipment readiness and communication with internal stakeholders
  • Maintain shipping supplies and operational readiness
  • Coordinate with Procurement for order status, issue resolution, and receipt verification
  • Ensure packing slips are documented and reconciled with Finance


Inventory & Operational Systems


  • Own and maintain inventory tracking systems and processes
  • Develop and improve operational tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Zoho Creator, or similar platforms)
  • Generate reports and provide visibility into inventory and operational metrics
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of inventory practices across sites


Waste Management & EH&S Support


  • Manage day-to-day waste operations in Marlborough, MA, including coordination with external vendors
  • Support waste profile setup, scheduling, and documentation
  • Ensure proper handling and tracking of biowaste and solvent waste
  • Maintain PPE inventory and availability across labs
  • Coordinate with third-party EH&S consultants
  • Support waste management practices in Hayward, CA


Equipment & Operational Support


  • Oversee logging and tracking of new equipment
  • Coordinate maintenance and calibration scheduling (metrology)
  • Manage and administer environmental monitoring systems (e.g., Oceasoft)
  • Support service lines in maintaining equipment readiness


Operational Readiness & Incident Support


  • Ensure laboratories are fully operational (materials, supplies, equipment)
  • Participate in escalation support for operational incidents (e.g., freezer alarms)
  • Take ownership of operational issues through resolution, coordinating across teams as needed
  • Drive consistency in operational practices across sites


Facilities Coordination


  • Coordinate routine facilities-related activities (janitorial services, minor repairs, vendor access)
  • Serve as a coordination point for day-to-day facility needs
  • Escalate major facilities issues and capital projects to senior leadership


Minimum Education and Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, operations, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in lab operations, logistics, or related functions
  • Prior experience managing or leading teams
  • Experience working in laboratory or regulated environments preferred

Compensation:


The target base salary for this position is between $95,750- $126,000 per year. The specific rate for this position

may vary and will be based upon factors including, but not limited to the individualโ€™s experience, education, and

skills. In addition to wages, Meadowhawk Biolabs provides a full benefits package upon hire date.
