Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician in Macon, GA. In this hands-on and quality-driven role, you will be responsible for supporting food safety programs, ensuring product compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the production of high-quality fermented foods. In a Laboratory Technician job you’ll be responsible for:
  • Conducting standardized tests on food products such as pickles, relishes, jalapeños, and peppers to ensure safety and quality compliance.
  • Monitoring and documenting Critical Control Points (CCP), Critical Quality Points (CQP), and pH levels.
  • Recording, compiling, and analyzing test data; preparing reports, charts, and graphs.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation for internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluating product characteristics including color, texture, taste, and smell.
  • Monitoring and controlling product temperatures throughout processing.
  • Ensuring proper lot tracking for ingredients, labels, and finished goods.
  • Supporting lab operations by staging materials and assisting with brine preparation.
  • Following all company policies, food safety guidelines, and PPE requirements.

What you’ll need:
  • Regular, in-person attendance.
  • Basic knowledge of math and science.
