Job description

Pharma Medica Research is a full-service contract research organization specialized in conducting early-phase clinical trials in healthy volunteers, special and patient populations. We are currently looking for a Lab Support Services Assistant to join our Bioanalytical Lab in Mississauga.

The function of the Lab Support Services Assistant is to be responsible for various laboratory support services associated with the Bioanalytical lab. He/she must comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements at Pharma Medica Research Inc. (PMRI). This position reports to the Manager, Lab Operations Support and/or designate.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample receipt, sorting, storage, and disposal/return of all study samples and complete all associated paperwork.
  • Calibrator and QC sample storage and requests for Validations as required by laboratory staff.
  • Study Sample Requests as required by laboratory staff.
  • Maintain automated temperature monitoring system for freezers, refrigerators and drug vault including informing management of any out-of-specification occurrences.
  • Maintain a database of blank biological matrix, Calibrator/QC pool inventory and study sample inventory.
  • Ensure that the Bioanalytical Sample Accession Laboratory is stocked with adequate supplies. Inform supervisor of low inventory levels of supplies to ensure stock is replenished on a timely basis.
  • Work in a safe manner, complying with all relevant safety procedures, requirements and SOPs.
  • Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education focused on lab services
  • Working experience in handling hazardous chemicals and biological waste, cleaning glassware and providing assistance to a Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Good communication skills including good English verbal and written skills.
  • Computer "literate" as required by the position in the use of spreadsheets.
  • Able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
