Job description

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is looking for a Teaching Lab Tech for our undergraduate teaching labs. This tech will be working with a current team of other Techs in a dynamic group supporting numerous students per semester. This position requires successful teamwork and an excitement for an academic environment. Student support is essential!

Duties include, but are not limited to: Preparing chemicals, lab equipment, and student drawers for teaching lab. Maintains laboratory facilities, instrumentation, and stockroom for experiments. Plans laboratory exercises with faculty. Tests and conducts experiments, exercises, instrumentation and demonstrations. Provides technical assistance to staff and teaching assistants concerning experimental preparations and procedures. Ensures compliance with health and safety standards of laboratory operations.

The working schedule for this position is variable and may be negotiated with the position supervisor. M-Th typically (Monday/Wednesday are typically 11:30a - 9:30p; Tuesday/Thursday are typically 8:30a - 6:30p). Evening hours are required. Work schedules may vary from semester to semester depending on student demand. Overtime hours will be required periodically.
