Job description

McFarland Clinic is currently accepting applications for Lab Supervisor for its Ames (CyTown) office. Candidates should be service-oriented, a team player, and be able to provide extraordinary care, every day to our patients.
Responsibilities include: Monitors laboratory activity throughout the day. Maintain visible supervision of employees and direct workflow to maximize efficiency. Supervisor will work closely with Human Resources and the Laboratory Director in personnel actions. Ensures checklists and/or logs are completed for required activities for all departments. Determines appropriate staffing levels and makes appropriate scheduling adjustments. Responds as needed to answer questions from the laboratory and clinical staff for their area of expertise. Assists with updating policy and procedure manuals as assigned, Oversees the use of the laboratory information system (LIS) and equipment and assists in training and use of down time procedures. Supervises the coordination of scheduling instrument maintenance (PMs) In collaboration with the Laboratory Director and department lead techs, supervises the validation of new methods and instrumentation that aligns with regulatory requirements. This position is a "working" lab position. The supervisor will be scheduled to work in all areas of the laboratory.
Education
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in medical lab science

Certification/License
  • Certification in MT/MLS (ASCP) or certification in MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certified
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as MT (ASCP)

Days: Monday - Friday. May include some weekend coverage.
Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Experience
  • 3-5 years technical experience in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment
  • Supervisory experience a plus
