Job description

The Manager Technical Director Toxicology and Special Chemistry:

  • Provides technical and operational leadership for Toxicology and Special Chemistry testing services, including, but not limited to, LC-MS/MS method development and oversight, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), including immunosuppressant monitoring for transplant patients, drugs-of-abuse testing/confirmation, pain management testing, endocrinology, autoimmune testing, protein electrophoresis, allergen testing, and serology.
  • The position is responsible for accuracy, regulatory compliance, and clinical relevance of laboratory services through oversight of method selection, validation, quality management, proficiency testing, and personnel competency.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert, providing consultation to physicians, laboratory leadership, and medical directors regarding test utilization, result interpretation, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborates with system laboratory leadership to evaluate, select, and implement new testing capabilities, assess instrumentation, optimize workflows, and strategically expand specialized testing services to support BayCare's growing clinical needs and advance excellence in patient care.

Position Details:

  • Location: Tampa, FL
  • Status: Full Time, Salaried
  • Shift Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Licensure: Florida Lab Supervisor or Lab Director.

Preferred Licensure: Fellowship in Clinical Chemistry and preferred Certification Diplomat of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (DABCC).

Required Education: Doctorate of Science

Required Experience: 5 years in Laboratory (preferred Clinical Laboratory) with 2 years in Clinical Chemistry with the focus on Mass Spectrometry and Special Chemistry.

Other Information: Required skills include Math & Statistical Skills required of a Clinical Chemist.
