Job description

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: College or university degree in a related scientific field.
  • Experience: Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years (<2 years) of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for seamless internal teamwork and professional external client relations.
  • Work Style: Exceptionally detail-oriented with a strong sense of work ownership. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under pressure and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical & Ergonomic Capabilities: Ability to perform lab-based tasks for extended periods, as well as work at a computer station for extended periods.

A minimum of 3 to 6 months of prior experience in a genomics research laboratory setting.

Core Responsibilities

  • Sequencing & Equipment Operation: Operate state-of-the-art sequencing platforms (including Illumina NovaSEQ and Element AVITI) along with other core platforms under the direction of the Facility Director.
  • Sample Quality Control: Utilize advanced QC equipment including fragment analyzers, bio-analyzers, Qubit, and qPCR instruments.
  • Workflow Management: Manage the full Next-Generation Sequencing pipeline, including sample intake, rigorous quality control, and laboratory processing.
  • Research & Administrative Support: Manage administrative intake for new projects, handle client communications, analyze and maintain data/specimens, conduct literature reviews, and assist in preparing reports and manuscripts.
  • Lab Collaboration: Install, set up, and perform experiments while interacting dynamically with students, lab staff, and principal investigators. Provide supplementary cross-team assistance as needed based on facility workload.
