Job description

Overview
Annual Salary: $51,000–$64,000
 
Location: Start in Chicago (Chinatown), then Hobart, Indiana
Start in Chicago for your first few months, then work in Hobart once the new lab opens.
 
A hands-on job with solid pay, great benefits, and a path to grow at Ozinga.
 
Learn the testing side of the concrete business. Build skills you can use for years.
 
This is a strong next step if you’ve worked around concrete.
 
If you’ve worked with concrete as a driver, quality control technician, laborer, yard/plant worker, forklift operator, batch/plant operator, concrete finisher (flatwork), or construction worker, this role builds on that experience in a cement materials lab.
 
Full-time, year-round work. Training provided. Lab experience not required.
 
Where you’ll work (important)
  • First few months: Ozinga’s lab in Chicago (Chinatown area) as your primary work location while the new Hobart lab is being built
  • After that: the new Hobart, IN lab once it opens
 
What you’ll do
  • Test cement and related materials to support concrete quality
  • Prep, label, and track samples; keep results organized
  • Use and check lab equipment; keep tools in good working order
  • Maintain clear records and follow safe work practices
  • Work closely with the Lab Director and Cement Technical Services team
 
What you bring
  • High school diploma (required)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
  • Hands-on and able to use tools and equipment safely
  • Dependable: you show up, follow steps, and ask questions when unsure
  • Basic computer skills (entering results, tracking samples, email)
  • Construction, concrete, or industrial experience is a plus
  • Concrete testing or materials testing experience is a plus (you don’t need it to apply)
 
Schedule: 
  • Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
  • Occasional extended hours or weekend work
    • Includes periodic rotational Saturdays
    • Happens only when testing needs or operations require extra coverage
