ZoomCare is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to join our team!
 
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for aiding providers in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases by accurately testing patient specimens, correlating data and reporting results in a timely manner to support quality patient care. The MLT will use analytical thinking, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to deliver accurate and timely results. By providing essential laboratory support, MLTs directly contribute to enhancing patient outcomes and overall healthcare delivery.
 
SCHEDULE AND TRAINING 
  • Location: ZoomCare Central Lab
  • Schedule: Variable hours, rotating schedule
    • Week 1: Tuesday – Friday | 8:00am – 5:30pm
    • Week 2: Wednesday – Saturday | 8:00am – 5:30pm
    • Clinic positions require you to attend 2-3 weeks of training.  The first week will be at your primary location and partially remote, the second and third weeks include traveling to multiple clinics in the area. 
    • Depending on the position and associated requirements, there may be additional mandatory training requirements that are outside of your scheduled shift.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure reagents and supplies are ordered when needed.
  • Handle biohazardous body fluids while following universal precautions.
  • Analyze laboratory reports for accuracy; maintain detailed records and documentation of laboratory procedures, test results, and quality assurance activities.
  • Perform maintenance and clean of workspaces and instruments as required.
  • Prepare various solutions such as calibrators, QC, reagents and maintaining related documentation.
  • Run Quality Control tests and properly document results per protocol.
  • Perform troubleshooting as required.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all laboratory testing and equipment on site, including training new operators.
  • Maintain awareness of biohazard safety guidelines and follow proper containment and disposal procedures.
  • Adhere to instrument maintenance schedules and perform preventive maintenance tasks as required.
  • Participate in the quality management system as directed / instructed by the Lab Director, Technical Consultant, and/or Department Lead.
  • Participate in compliance duties assigned by Lab Director, Technical Consultant, and/or Department Lead, including audit readiness / internal audits, inspection preparation, and related corrective / preventative actions.
  • Enter test results, quality control data, and other laboratory information accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or electronic databases.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and adherence to laboratory processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
  • Associate’s degree, required.
  • Completion of an approved program for Medical Laboratory Technicians.
  • ASCP, AMT or equivalent certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
    • Certification requirement may be waived at the sole discretion of the laboratory director for candidates with adequate clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Working knowledge of chemistry, hematology, and immunoassay instrumentation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferred.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Vaccinated against COVID-19, Hepatitis B., MMR, PPD, Varicella (Chickenpox), and TD/TDAP.
  • Phlebotomy skills and experience are favored but not required.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, AthenaOne, and other relevant software applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS 
  • Holiday and weekend rotations required.
  • Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and reaching overhead.
  • Occasional crouching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. 
  • Prolonged periods working at a desk and working on a computer.
  • In-Clinic MLTs: Fit tested for an N95 mask, must be clean shaven where the respirator seals to the face for fit testing or when wearing the respirator.
