Laboratory Technician
Protech Lab Corp – Hilton Head Island, SC

Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time, on-site Laboratory Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, hands-on laboratory experience, and a keen attention to detail to ensure accurate and reliable testing results.

Key Duties

  • Perform metallurgical sample preparation
  • Develop and execute test plans for standard and custom projects, ensuring compliance with ASTM and other relevant standards.
  • Maintain Protech's quality and safety standards throughout all testing processes.
  • Select and operate appropriate measurement tools and equipment
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and identify necessary repairs

  • Apply mathematics to solve measurement and testing problems

  • Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, and processes to evaluate quality and performance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve testing errors

  • Apply measurement science and methods to produce valid, reliable results

  • Identify and prevent potential measurement errors

Responsibilities

  • Maintain primary, intrinsic, secondary, and working testing standards

  • Collect, compile, measure, and record data during testing

  • Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective actions (e.g., adjustments, component replacement, correction factors)

  • Identify and correct errors as applicable

  • Prepare and deliver clear, detailed testing reports

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and quality control testing

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and laboratory skills

  • Familiarity with laboratory processes and techniques

  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

  • Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

  • Experience in materials testing or coatings industry is a plus
