Job description

OB Technician - Full Time

Position Summary: Assist medical and nursing staff during labor and delivery procedures. Provides direct patient care to mother and baby as directed by the registered nurse. Responsible for ensuring cleanliness of the labor and delivery rooms and that they are fully prepared.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides care and support to mothers and newborns as directed by the RN.
  2. Ensures that delivery and operating rooms are clean, sterile and stocked prior to deliveries, including sterilizing surgical instruments.
  3. Provides delivery assistance under the direction of the RN that may include coaching mother with breathing and pushing.
  4. May process, label and send specimens to the lab.
  5. Sets up, scrubs and supports members of the team during deliveries and caesarean sections.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Three months of job-related experience and/or training.
  • BLS certification.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in surgical technology.
  • One year of experience in a medical setting.
