Overview

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Invasive lab. This position is responsible for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, electrophysiology devices, peripheral vascular, neuro interventional, and interventional radiology procedures. The Cath/IR RT produces quality imaging and assists the Interventionalist in performing invasive procedures; as well as technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques.

ResponsibilitiesAdministers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.Anticipates set-up and needs for invasive procedures in Interventional Radiology, Neuro-Interventional, Cardiac Cath, EP devices and others as assigned.Circulates, scrubs, and/or monitors cardiac Cath, neurointerventional, peripheral vascular, structural, interventional radiology, and EP device procedures, and Watchman cases as assigned.Assists with inventory/supplies and coordinates with Inventory Supply specialist to ensure necessary equipment is available ahead of time.Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, possible contraindications for procedure, and treatment position.Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc;Completes procedural documentation accurately and completely.Explains procedures to patients and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.Verifies the successful transfer of images to PACS and troubleshoots basic PACS issues.Perform on call duties and/or work variable shifts assigned to meet department needs.Required to float to all areas of the department including Prep and Recovery as needed.Maintains a clean and neat work area.Demonstrates competence in the operation of imaging, physiological monitoring, and related equipment; Performs basic troubleshooting for this equipment.Achieves hemostasis at vascular access sites, monitors patient for complications and reports to the physician if necessary.Following the ALARA principle, maintain the safety of staff and patient during invasive procedures.Able to use adjunctive tools to complete procedures including but not limited to IVUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Impella, IABP, OCT, Rotarex, HawkOne, Penumbra, EKOS, Inari etc; Takes call independently within 6 months. Cath lab work including but not limited to left heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, right heart catheterization, pericardiocentesis, treatment of in-stent restenosis, coronary angiogram, temporary pacemaker, Watchman, EVAR, cerebral angiogram, treatment of cerebrovascular diseases such as aneurysm including placing flow diverters and coils, STEMI and stroke intervention, peripheral vascular work, pacemaker insertion, and familiarity with interventional radiology procedures such as nephrostomy tube placement and drains. Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary.QualificationsCertifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology; Associate's Degree: Related Field, Work Experience: Carle Health Company Overview

Salary RangeThe compensation range for this position is $35.62per hour - $61.27per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
