Job description

Lab Technician
Genotyping
Ankeny, IA
6-month contract, long-term potential
$20.65/hr.
2nd Shift Monday-Thursday 3pm-2am (4 ten-hour shifts)

The ideal candidate will support daily laboratory activities by overseeing general operations and maintaining a clean, organized, and orderly workspace. Responsibilities could include receiving and organizing incoming samples, maintaining adequate labware inventory, and preparing buffers and reagents.

This role also involves troubleshooting and operating equipment used in genotyping production, as well as reviewing and updating task-related documentation. Candidates may be required to rotate across all three laboratory areas: Chipping, Extraction, and Detection.


Understanding and following Employee Safety and Health (ESH) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflow guidelines, and maintaining a safe work environment are needed. Being capable of managing multiple tasks, working effectively with more than one supervisor, interfacing with other functions such as system support teams and research personnel are encouraged.

Training for these positions may occur outside the listed normal work hours, depending on the availability of training personnel. This will be discussed prior to hiring.
