Job description

OverviewLeadership OpportunityWorking closely with the Clinical Director of Anesthesia, the Assistant Director will help support staffing, scheduling, recruitment, and departmental initiatives while maintaining an active clinical practice.Responsibilities
  • Assists Clinical Director of Anesthesia in supervising CRNAs at various sites of service in the safe and efficient delivery of anesthesia and related services
  • Prepares and delivers safe anesthesia services to patients as assigned at above facilities.  Approximately 50% of regularly scheduled time will be spent with clinical responsibilities.
  • Monitors daily Anesthesia staffing for MRH main OR, Cardiac OR, GI, EP Lab/Cath Lab, OCA, RMH and Hoke Campus.
  • Coordinating continuing education check offs, and overseeing documentation of credentialling is current for all CRNAs.
  • Communicates with Clinical Director of Anesthesia and Director of Surgical Services regarding CRNA recruitment, work environment, disciplinary action and patient satisfaction results.
  • Represents the anesthesia department at appropriate committee meetings of the hospital as delegated by the Clinical Director of Anesthesia.
  • Interviewing CRNA and SRNA candidates for employment including providing a tour of the facility and introducing to available staff for input.
  • Coordinates new CRNA orientation including facility orientation, initial competencies and Omnicell access.
  • Will fulfil ADP/Payroll responsibilities including assisting administrative director with entering and verifying pay codes adjusting as necessary.
  • Scheduling responsibilities for the CRNAs including creating and maintaining schedule agreements for each staff member, creating the CRNA schedule, coordinating 2nd call and heart call teams prior to making CRNA schedule, approve/deny shift swaps, pick ups and giveaway requests through shiftwizard. 
  • Responsible for coordinating annual vacation picks and holiday assignments - this may be delegated to CRNA vacation committee members as appropriate.
  • Daily assignments for CRNAs and SRNAs including updating shift wizard with assignment needs and communicating these assignments to staff
  • Serve as liaison between Shared Governance council and Director of Anesthesia for all issues brought forward.
  • Communicates regularly with Staff CRNAs in collaboration with Director of Anesthesia to ensure staff are supported in caring for our patients.
  • Reviewing policies, procedures and standards of work as necessary with Director and administrative assistant director.
  • Complies with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with current RN licensure.
  • Completed training as a Nurse Anesthetist in an accredited education program.
  • Current North Carolina RN license
  • Current NCBON verification of CRNA/Advanced Practice RN in NC
  • Maintains current certification with NBCRNA including continuing education requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years as a Staff CRNA.  Prior experience in management preferred but not required.
