Job Details
As a Fab Lab Assistant, you will become a rapid prototyping expert, familiar with all of our supported hardware and software. After learning the basics, Fab Lab Assistant will develop technical expertise over time based on their strengths and interests. Most of your time will be spent teaching others about our supported hardware and software, as well as offering guidance on students' personal projects. You will occasionally lead student training teaching the basic operation of our machines and supported software while upholding the lab's safety procedures. This position offers insight and guidance on student projects while also designing and manufacturing demo projects to demonstrate software/hardware capabilities and develop expertise. Training incoming student on safety and proper use of equipment.
Other departmental duties will be on an as needed basis. To be considered for the position, the candidate must be competent with all Fab Lab equipment, and performing other specialized tasks, and have the ability to work independently. The Fab Lab Assistant will also provide guidance and support to Edwards College students, faculty, and staff. This position may occasionally include some occasional weekend hours. Ideally, candidates should be prepared to commit to a multi-semester assignment to this position.
