The Talbot Lab (Basic Sciences Division) is looking for a reliable, organized, detail-oriented individual, to support ongoing exciting research on neuro-immunology, gut microbiota and infectious diseases. This is ideal for an individual who is interested in an entry-level introduction to a research lab environment and has an interest in mouse as a genetic organism for biomedical research.

Under close supervision of members of the lab, the person in this position will

  • Assist with regular maintenance of our mouse colony, which consists in animal biopsy, breeding and weaning.
  • Maintain electronic spreadsheet for the mouse colony
  • General lab cleaning and organization.
  • Assisting lab members with experiments.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Other Expectations:

  • Work collaboratively within the Talbot Lab and with Hutch and external collaborators.
  • Show respect to all members of the lab and the broader Hutch community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with an interest in the sciences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of college-level coursework in biology.
  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort with learning new software systems.
  • Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to learn new tools and content quickly and independently.
  • Strong communication skills.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
