Job description

Location: Plainville, Kansas
Assignment Length: 13-Week Travel Contract
Schedule: Nights | 7:00 PM โ€“ 7:00 AM | 7 On / 7 Off

Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking a Travel Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for a 13-week assignment with a hospital client in Plainville, Kansas. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced laboratory professional who is comfortable working independently and has strong blood bank experience.

The selected candidate will function as a generalist, performing testing across multiple laboratory departments while serving as the primary laboratory professional on overnight shifts.

Schedule

This position follows a rotating 7-on/7-off schedule:

  • Wednesday โ€“ Friday: Work

  • Saturday: Off

  • Sunday โ€“ Tuesday: Work

  • Seven consecutive days off following each rotation

  • One Saturday shift per month will be required as part of the coverage rotation.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $25.00/hour

  • Weekly Per Diem: $1,100/week (for eligible travelers)

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderate and high complexity testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and blood bank.

  • Perform blood typing, antibody screening, crossmatching, and issue blood products as needed.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.

  • Perform and document quality control and quality assurance activities.

  • Accurately review and report laboratory results in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely patient care.

  • Function independently during overnight shifts with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.

  • ASCP certification as an MLT or MLS preferred.

  • Previous experience as a laboratory generalist required.

  • Strong blood bank experience is required.

  • Must be comfortable working independently on night shift.

  • Experience using MEDITECH LIS is preferred but not required.

  • Experience working with the Vitros 7600 chemistry analyzer is a plus.
