Position Overview:

Lab Assistance are responsible for all aspects of collection and processing of biological specimens for clinical laboratory testing while maintaining the Mission and Values of the Gateway Regional Medical Center.

  • -Position Status: PRN

Education Qualifications:

  • Required: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Required: Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent

Certification Qualifications:

  • Required: Board accredited phlebotomy certification or equivalent
  • Required: Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification Within 3 months

Experience Qualifications:

  • Must display ability to read and understanding written data and medical terminology
  • Must possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all age groups
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform all specimen processing functionalities
  • Data entry skills are required
  • Order and report distribution skills are essential
  • Professional customer service skills and positive attitude required
  • Must display ability to learn and retain policy, procedure, and computer training
  • Assists with maintaining laboratory operations and performs other tasks as necessary to ensure continuity of patient care
