REPORTS TO: CEJA Training Coordinator
PLACEMENT: Grade 104
HIRING RANGE: $19.71 - $20.89

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides an opportunity to assist instructors and students in a clean energy basics and work readiness bridge course focused on preparing students for success in an array of clean energy jobs and workplaces. The bridge program is the first training component of the Climate & Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) workforce hubs grant program.
Individual must assist CEJA instructors, providing support in the operation, safety, and monitoring of lab processes, equipment, and activities within the Construction Basics section of the CEJA bridge program. Individual must adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm. Demonstrates respect for students; understands learning styles and applies understanding to institution-related activities; demonstrates integrity and promotes diversity and open communications.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Meet with construction basics instructor to discuss any special needs for that day's lab class.
2. Assist students with the safe operation of hand and power tools.
3. Inform instructor of any wrongdoing by students of if students disappear from lab setting.
4. Report accidents, unsafe behaviors, or equipment malfunctions promptly to construction basics instructor and/or CEJA Training Manager.
5. Monitor storage of tools and supplies to ensure that students put items away and store them properly following each class. Inform instructor of any destruction to tools and/or missing items
6. Inspect construction lab space following each class and ensure space is returned to the same state it was in prior to the class. This may involve sweeping, garbage collection, and returning materials to storage.
7. Maintain safety principles and regulations to ensure a secure work environment.
8. Assist instructor with inventory, cleanliness, and instruction as needed.
9. Maintain a positive attitude towards students to foster a positive learning environment.
10. Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Knowledge in construction, the building trades, manufacturing technology, or other clean energy related fields.
3. Commitment to working with diverse populations and equity investment individuals.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with students, instructors, and CEJA team.
5. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
6. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Forklift certified, with the ability to perform routine maintenance and basic servicing on forklifts.
2. Comfortable working with technology and willing to be trained on organization-specific software and systems as needed.
3. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
4. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

1. Normal office physical demands.
