Job description

Under supervision of the Lab Supervisor or Director, and direction of Embryologists, the Embryology Lab Assistant is responsible for providing daily administrative support and assistance with high quality IVF laboratory medical procedures. The Embryology Lab Assistant consults with other staff groups/members regarding the administration, maintenance and daily running of the laboratory. The Embryology Lab Assistant works in a collaborative relationship with the Laboratory Director and/or Supervisor and other team members, as well as with other clinical department employees and physicians.

The Embryology Lab Assistant is an entry-level position and will require the employee to become fully trained and proficient in all basic IVF laboratory administrative processes and assistant procedures. The Embryology Lab Assistant position is an administrative role with an additional supportive role for laboratory preparations and procedures (lab QC, dish prep, witnessing) that does not require actual gamete/embryo manipulation.

Duties will Include:

Provide daily operational support to the IVF laboratory and embryologists to meet time-sensitive workflows

Perform required witnessing for laboratory procedures to ensure patient safety and compliance

Conduct daily quality control procedures and maintain accurate QC records

Prepare laboratory paperwork, labels, and cycle documentation for patient cases

Accurately enter, maintain, and manage clinical data, reports, and records in the EMR system

Handle receiving, transferring, packing, and shipping of sperm, eggs, embryos, and biopsy samples per protocol

Track inventory, order laboratory supplies, and ensure the lab is fully stocked and organized

Generate, distribute, and send embryology, semen analysis, PGT, and IVF cycle reports to providers and clinics

Support communication and administrative functions, including phone calls, emails, visitors, and coordination with clinical teams

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required,
  • Two years of related clerical/administrative job experience strongly preferred. Experience working in a laboratory setting preferred.
