Job description

SECTION 1: Job Summary (Summary of the basic functions of the position)

Provides assistance in the Mohs / Pathology Laboratory.

SECTION 2:
Mohs Lab Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)

  • Prepares Mohs / Excision templates for pt. charts
  • Assigns a Mohs number / DAF number for each site to be processed in the Mohs Lab with frozen sections
  • Prepares individual patient maps for all first Stage tissue to be processed in the Mohs Lab
  • Load slides on stainer
  • Coverslip slides
  • Assist with making stage slides during heavy workflow
  • Assist with copying patient information for stage maps
  • Type / print / apply labels for Mohs slides
  • Log stage / slide count information into Mohs log book
  • Maintain daily stain (H&E and T-Blue) control documentation
  • Maintain copies of blank Mohs maps for future use
  • Maintain pre-numbered slides for Mohs / DAF / additional stages
  • File slides weekly
  • Prepares embedding slides for next surgery date
  • Instrument sterilization (as needed)
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.

Pathology Lab Duties and Responsibilities(Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)

  • Enter pathology results
  • Sort reports
  • Enter patient demographics and insurance for outside specimens
  • Create NGP for outside specimens (if applicable)
  • Verify patient insurance prior to sending out
  • Send out slides and reports
  • Request slides and reports from outside institutions/laboratories
  • Charge immunofluorescence specimens
  • Fax reports and paperwork for pathologists (as applicable)
  • File requisitions and prepare for scanning
  • Answer telephones
  • File slides
  • Enter QA slides in Intellipath
  • Removes cassettes from embedding center and molds
  • Remove excess paraffin from cassettes
  • Load and unload H&E stainer/coverslipper
  • Deliver slides with corresponding pathology requisitions to pathologist
  • Collect and line up specimens
  • Accession specimens in Intellipath
  • Label specimen containers and requisitions
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.
  • Maintain quality control logs.
  • Wash and chemically clean laboratory dishes
  • Rotate solutions on H&E stainer

SECTION 3: Experience Requirements

  • Minimum one year of work experience in an office, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
