Job description

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is seeking a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist join our team in Bolivar, Missouri — someone who leads with skill, compassion, and a drive to positively impact every patient and family we serve. 

Position Details 

  • Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
  • Work Shift: Days
  • Hours: 9am-5:30pm

What Your Day Looks Like: In this role,you will support CMH’s onboarding and new hire process by performing pre-employment lab work, including completing blood draws and collecting urine samples for drug screening.

 As a Lab Assistant, you will be:  

  • Verifying patients’ identities and accurately entering this information into the computer system
  • Explaining the sample collection process to patients and answering any questions they may have
  • Following safe hygiene rules to draw blood tubes and collect urine samples for drug testing
  • Securing, sealing, and correctly labeling samples, and following chain of custody protocols to send samples to outside testing sites when appropriate
  • Communicating with Human Resources regarding test results as needed

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent and 1-3 months on-the-job training in phlebotomy
  • Skills/Experience: One year or more experience performing phlebotomy preferred
  • Licensure/Certification: Friends and Family CPR within 6 months of employment
  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking, ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance, and ability to perform duties requiring good vision and hand coordination
