Position Summary

The Electrical Apprenticeship Program Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom and lab instruction to electrical apprentices at various stages of their training. The instructor ensures students gain the technical knowledge, safety awareness, and practical skills required to succeed in the electrical trade and meet program, industry, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom instruction in electrical theory, code requirements, and industry best practices
  • Conduct hands-on lab training covering residential, commercial, and/or industrial electrical systems
  • Teach and enforce electrical safety standards, including OSHA and NFPA 70E practices
  • Prepare lesson plans aligned with apprenticeship standards, curriculum guidelines, and learning objectives
  • Evaluate apprentice performance through exams, practical assessments, and skill demonstrations
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Stay current with National Electrical Code (NEC) updates and industry developments
  • Support apprentices with mentoring, academic guidance, and career development
  • Collaborate with program administrators, employers, and other instructors
  • Ensure classroom and lab environments are safe, organized, and properly equipped

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace and electrical safety
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to adult learners
  • Basic computer skills for grading, reporting, and instructional materials
  • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience
  • Experience working with apprenticeship or workforce development programs
  • Teaching certification or instructor training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in multiple electrical sectors (residential, commercial, industrial)
