Join Our Team as a Veterinary Technician!

Are you passionate about providing exceptional care to animals and making a difference in their lives?  Henderson Animal Care Hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced, two and a half doctor practice in Henderson, TX.  As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with small animals, small exotics, small ruminants, large exotics, and all hoof stock, as well as food animals and big cats. We pride ourselves as an outlier in East Texas, using state-of-the-art procedures and medicine, monitoring equipment, radiography, ultrasound, dental equipment, dental x-ray, and a full in-house laboratory to provide the most advanced and precise care to our patients.  You will not find more advanced technology and care in East Texas.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Perform anesthesia monitoring during surgical procedures
• Obtain an adequate history with follow up questions for clients
• Assist with discharging patients, client education, and confident at home care instructions
• Administer medications, vaccines, and perform sample collection, IV catheterization, venipuncture, and triage
• Communicate with clients both on the phone and in person
• Explain estimates to clients
• Perform labratory duties such as setting up and reading fecal samples, staining glass slides, using Idexx and Vcheck labratory equipment.
• Communicate with other team members via verbal communication as well as checking tasks on an electronic whiteboard
• Input vitals into the medical record
• Confidently communicate with doctors, students, colleagues, and management
• Monitor both critical and not critical patients in the hospital, update medical records daily, and perform treatments on hospitalzied patients daily
• Obtain radiographs per standard protocols
• Gently and effectively restraining both calm and upset patients, without causing more stress to the patient

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of basic veterinary medicine procedures
• Perform exceptional patient care of both hospitalized and out-patients
• Compassion 
• Licensed Veterinary Technician OR Technician Assistant 
• Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, medication administration, and critical care
• Ability to perform X-rays, lab work, and medical record management
• Strong communication skills and a passion for animal care
• Motivated to learn and empowered to implement what is learned

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience in anesthesia, IV catheterization, ultrasound, internal medicine, and surgery
• Familiarity with common medical problems and treatment protocols 
• Knowledge of preventive care and internal medicine
• Comfortable (respectful and helpful) with a multitude of team members of all skill sets

Salary and Benefits:

Minimum Salary: $25,000.00

Maximum Salary: $35,000.00
