Job description

Payroll Specialist LHH Recruitment is partnering with a company near Scottsdale that is seeking an experienced Multi-State Payroll Specialist to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy, and has experience processing payroll for a large employee population. This role is Monday-Friday fully onsite and is compensation between $60,000-$70,000 DOE.
Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for 1,500+ employees with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ensure payroll is processed timely and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Audit payroll data, earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit changes before each payroll cycle.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity within the payroll system.
  • Process garnishments, tax levies, wage assignments, and other payroll deductions.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation.
  • Partner with HR, Benefits, and Accounting to ensure accurate employee data and payroll processing.
  • Create and analyze payroll reports using Microsoft Excel.
Qualifications
  • MUST have experience processing bi-weekly payroll for 1,500+ employees.
  • 3+ years of recent multi-state payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) or ADP Workforce Now is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting/filtering, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
