It’s an incredibly exciting time to work in energy. Join us on our mission to improve the lives of ONE BILLION humans within the decade and shape a cleaner, better future for everyone.

Help us use technology to make a big green dent in the universe!

Kraken powers some of the most innovative global developments in energy.

We’re a technology company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system. From optimising renewable generation, creating a more intelligent grid and enabling utilities to provide excellent customer experiences, our operating system for energy is transforming the industry around the world in a way that benefits everyone.

It’s a really exciting time in energy. Help us make a real impact on shaping a better, more sustainable future.

KrakenFlex

The energy industry is undergoing the largest transformation since industrialisation at an unprecedented rate of change and we are positioning ourselves to be at the heart of that change.

Our aim is to be the leading global provider of solutions that enable customers to release £30bn of value per annum from distributed energy resources (DERs). We are building a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription business with a global addressable market of £2.4 billion per annum, by digitally connecting hundreds of thousands of DERs with energy markets.

We have already attained a market leading position and KrakenFlex is a recognised thought leader and innovator in the industry.

Kraken is seeking an exceptional Senior Account Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of Flexibility clients across North America.

You’ll build trusted relationships, align priorities across Kraken and help clients realise value from our Flexibility products and services. We’re looking for a proactive, commercially minded relationship builder who thrives in complex environments and enjoys creating clarity from ambiguity.

Experience of flexibility markets is highly advantageous. However, we also welcome exceptional candidates who can demonstrate strong stakeholder management, commercial awareness and an ability to drive outcomes in complex environments.

This is an opportunity to work with some of the most innovative utilities and flexibility providers in North America while helping shape Kraken's continued international growth.

What you’ll do
  • Own and develop a portfolio of regulated utility and flexibility clients across North America.

  • Act as the primary point of coordination for your portfolio of clients, managing a mix Residential Flex, Generation Flex and emerging Flex propositions (i.e. Flex as a Service).

  • Build trusted executive relationships, helping shape long-term client strategy while identifying opportunities to grow the partnership.

  • Act as a cross-functional leader, aligning priorities across Delivery, Product, Engineering and Customer Success, bringing together the right people to deliver successful client outcomes.

  • Be the client advocate within Kraken whilst balancing the needs of the wider business.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of client priorities, product roadmaps and delivery risks, proactively managing dependencies and blockers.

  • Provide clear communication, challenge constructively and hold stakeholders accountable for agreed outcomes.

  • Facilitate client governance, including QBRs, service reviews, strategic planning sessions and product roadmap reviews appropriate to the needs and maturity of each client.

  • Prepare client reporting, account health and forecasting updates.

  • Lead commercial discussions where required.

  • Ensure clients achieve meaningful outcomes and realise value from Kraken’s Flexibility products and services.

What you’ll need
  • Experience managing client relationships in a client-facing environment.

  • Understanding of the evolving North American flexibility landscape, including utilities, DERMS, VPPs and regulatory drivers.

  • Comfortable managing multiple clients and priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to influence and align Product, Engineering, Delivery and Customer Success teams around shared client outcomes.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Highly organised, proactive and able to operate independently.

  • Ability to lead through influence and create clarity in ambiguous situations.

  • Comfortable navigating difficult conversations and holding others accountable.

  • Resilient, accountable and delivery focused.

It would be great if you had
  • Energy or utilities industry experience.

  • Experience in flexibility, DERMS, Grid DERMS, VPPs or demand response is advantageous.

  • Experience working with regulated utilities is desirable.

  • Experience of commercial negotiations.

What success looks like in this role
  • Long-term client relationships are strengthened, leading to renewals, expansion opportunities and client advocacy.

  • Client priorities are clearly understood and effectively represented within Kraken.

  • Delivery challenges are identified early and managed proactively.

  • Contract and commercial discussions are managed successfully.

  • Clients continue to realise increasing value from Kraken's products and services, supporting both customer success and business portfolio growth.

  • Flex priorities are effectively represented across Kraken, ensuring client needs are reflected in Product, Delivery and Customer Success.

Why you'll love it here
  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options including FSAs.

  • Paid time off — we know working hard means also being able to recharge as needed, we trust our employees to get the work done and take the time they need.

  • 401(k) plan with employer match.

  • Parental leave. Biological, adoptive and foster parents are all eligible.

  • Pre-tax commuter benefits.

  • Flexible working environment: you need to shift around your schedule? You do you, we genuinely believe in work/life balance.

  • Equity Options: every Kraken employee owns part of the business. We’re a team, working together towards huge goals. Every person is crucial to our success, you should be rewarded as such.

  • Modern office or co-working spaces depending on location.

  • The salary range for this senior role in NYC ranges on average from $120,000-$155,000 depending on relevant experience, role alignment, and technical/client management expertise demonstrated throughout the interview process. While the broad salary range is listed, not all candidates will be placed at the top of the range—this will be determined by the overall fit for the position.
