Job description

Kenai Peninsula College is hiring Resident Advisors (RAs) for summer 2026 and the 2026-2027 school year! This live-in student position will provide support for residence hall operations. This job is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and develop leadership, organizational skills, and problem-solving.
RAs will..
  • Respond to a variety of situations in a residence hall setting. An RA is generally the first point of contact for residents in need of help. RAs must be willing to step into situations involving conflict and mediate difficult conversations. They must be willing to learn and implement KPC safety protocols in the event of an emergency in the residence hall. RAs at KPC also will participate in an on-call rotation with professional staff serving as backup.
  • Collaborate with the Residence Hall Coordinator and other campus partners to build community by connecting with residents and planning events. The person in this role is expected to serve as an approachable figure for residents from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. They also are expected to be present figures in KPC's community.
  • Model and be knowledgeable of the KPC Community Living Standards and UAA/KPC Student Code of Conduct. RAs also document policy violations and are considered Campus Security Authorities . RAs will be expected to complete Authorized Adult training as well.
  • Work a desk or perform another administrative duty for a minimum of 1 hour each pay period.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • RAs are expected to interact positively and professionally with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Knowledge of campus resources and a positive attitude are also highly important.

Preference may be given to current and past student housing residents.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this student employment role, an applicant must have the following requisites:
  • Must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
  • Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing at the time of appointment and must remain in good disciplinary standing throughout the duration of employment.
  • By the start date, the successful candidate must have applied for housing consistent with their employment period.

For summer employment, an applicant also...
  • Must have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester.

An unrestricted Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Kenai River campus in Soldotna. This is a part-time, Student Assistant 1 position. Compensation consists of $10.97/hr wage and a housing waiver.
