Position Summary

The Lead Water Restoration Technician is responsible for leading residential and commercial water mitigation projects from the initial emergency response through structural drying. This position supervises field technicians, ensures work is completed in accordance with IICRC standards, documents project progress, and delivers exceptional customer service while representing Kowalski Construction professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead residential and commercial water mitigation projects.
  • Respond to emergency water losses 24/7 as part of the on-call rotation.
  • Perform water extraction, demolition, structural drying, and moisture mapping.
  • Install, monitor, and adjust drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA air scrubbers, and containment systems.
  • Monitor drying progress and make equipment adjustments based on moisture readings and psychrometric conditions.
  • Complete daily moisture logs, photos, sketches, and Xactimate/F9 job notes.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, commercial clients, property managers, insurance adjusters, and project managers.
  • Train and mentor Water Restoration Technicians.
  • Ensure all work complies with IICRC S500 standards and company SOPs.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and a clean, organized job site.
  • Follow all OSHA safety requirements and company safety procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5 years of professional water mitigation/restoration experience
  • Experience leading restoration crews
  • Strong understanding of structural drying principles and moisture mapping
  • Ability to operate restoration equipment safely and efficiently
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred (Not Required)

  • IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) Certification
  • IICRC Applied Structural Drying (ASD) Certification
  • Additional IICRC certifications are a plus
