Job Summary:

Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit is growing! A well-established and leading law firm specializing in the representation of homeowner, condominium, and community associations is seeking an Associate Attorney with 0-2 years of experience, for our Boca Raton, FL office. This position is ideal for newly licensed attorneys seeking to begin their legal career in community association law. Our Associates have immediate and direct client contact, work on substantive matters, and contribute to the exceptional service our clients have come to expect.

The hours for this exempt position are 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, and it follows a 40-hour workweek. The role starts out as a full-time in office position, with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule after 60-90 days. The starting salary for this role is $97,500, contingent upon level of experience. Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Provide legal representation to Condominium and Homeowner Associations on a wide range of governance, operational, and owner-related matters.

·         Advise Boards of Directors on legal issues, governance, compliance, and interpretation of governing documents and applicable statutes.

·         Conduct legal research and analyze governing documents, statutes, regulations, and case law.

·         Draft, review, finalize, and record legal documents, including opinion letters, violation demand letters, governing document amendments, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal filings.

·         Prepare statutory demand letters, foreclosure and covenant enforcement complaints, arbitration petitions, and related litigation documents for collection and enforcement matters.

·         Attend Board meetings, court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings as needed to provide legal counsel and representation.

·         Oversee paralegals responsible for collection and foreclosure matters to ensure timely compliance with statutory deadlines, court requirements, and firm procedures.

·         Manage multiple matters simultaneously while providing responsive communication and timely follow-up to Partners and clients.

·         Assist with legal matters related to KSN's Florida landlord representation, including drafting pleadings and appearing at court hearings, as needed.

·         Maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry developments affecting Condominium and Homeowner Associations.

·         Participate in Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs and maintain all required attorney licensure and professional development requirements.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

·         0–2 years of legal experience preferred; recent law school graduates are welcome to apply.

·         Active and valid Florida Bar license.

·         Knowledge of, and experience with, the Florida Condominium Act and Florida Homeowners’ Association Act preferred.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

·         Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

·         Commitment to producing high-quality work and providing excellent client service.

·         Strong time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

·         Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively, including delegating when appropriate.
